Nerd Clock Widget currently runs on Android devices. Because it is a widget app, it's not compatible with Apple devices. The widget runs on any of the device's home screens and can be installed as multiple instances. Each instance is individually configurable to display in a different style. Displays the time in 9 different formats, and can display in white or black color. The digital clock also has a high contrast red or green. The clock can be shown in 12 hour or 24 hour format, either user selectable or based on the Android setting. Chimes can be disabled, or enabled to play only on the hour, the hour and 1/2 hour, or on 15-minute intervals (hour, 1/4 hour, 1/2 hour and 3/4 hour).
Chimes play at lowest priority, and playback is automatically skipped if the device audio is in use (such as on a call or playing music). Chimes are also skipped automatically if the device ringer is set for silent or vibrate. The sound volume tracks the ringer volume. For devices with no phone (such as tablets), the sound tracks the notification volume. If another sound needs to play when the widget is playing a chime, the chime yields to the other sound automatically. Also, chimes do not turn on the device screen when playing, in order to maximize battery life.

Nerd Clock Widget comes with six standard chimes that were recorded from our developer's personal clock collection. The first four are standard clock chimes, a Westminster Chime from a common grandfather clock, the cuckoo sounds from a German made Black Forest cuckoo clock, a basic chime taken from a 1970's vintage wall clock, and a chime from a 1920's vintage mantel clock. A voice chime has been added that announces the time. There is also a good ol' Rhode Island Red rooster crow. It's was a challenge to find a rooster that had good timekeeping ability.
